Not useful for testing organic water filters
I was hoping that this device would help me determine when I needed to change the water filter, as the filters are expensive and last much longer than the "replace filter" indication for my water supply. The TDS/EC method detects inorganic elements and compounds (ionic) by measuring electrical conductivity, but my water quality issues are due to organic compounds. Ionic compounds change the conductivity of the water, inorganic compounds do not. So it wasn't useful for me. I am looking at some low-cost water-quality testers that use the UV254 absorbance test that's supposed to be able to detect the levels of a variety of organic compounds often found in the water supply.

Dropping my rating of this item
After more experience with this item Im lowering my rating. This meter is grossly non-linear. Ive tested it with 1413 uS and about 400 uS cal solutions and the values are wildly off at higher levels. That said, at lower levels of fresh water streams the results are better than most test strips. The temperature readings are off as much as 4C near freezing.

Highly recommend | ||
This little guy is one of my best buys. I very highly recommend this. It is very easy to use. Honestly one of the best buys I have made. Shouldve bought this a long time ago.

Highly recommended. | ||
This 3-in-1 is very easy to use. It only takes a few seconds to know the results. It will tell you if the water filter is reached its limits and needs to be changed.

Functions well but not accurate
This meter gives stable and consistent readings but mine reads much lower than it should. I just had a chance to compare it to a YSI-Pro meter. The pocket meter EC readings need to be multiplied by 1.43 to be correct, and the temperature reads 4 C low. I suggest calibrating it.
